The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed the important infrastructure works related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Engineer Bader Darwish, manager of Ashghal’s Highway Projects Department, told local Arabic daily Arrayah
that work on the main roads that serve the stadiums has been completed and that a plan has been drafted for the roads near the venues for easy access.
Ashghal has established a network of highways that covers Doha while linking it to all regions of the country. The projects encompassed the construction and development of integrated infrastructure that included setting up sewage networks, electricity networks and smart transportation systems, and developing lighting systems and traffic lights systems.

These are in addition to developing the drinking water network and the surface water drainage network, as well as service roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and landscaping works.
Ashghal has so far completed 98% of the highway and infrastructure projects, including the World Cup projects.
Work is being carried out continuously and round-the-clock to deliver the rest of the projects.
The authority is also working on projects meant to establish green areas on all roads in residential areas and in the areas surrounding the World Cup stadiums.
In earlier statements to Arrayah
, Ashghal confirmed that it is making efforts in co-ordination with ministries, the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy (SC) and other stakeholders while working on pedestrian and bicycle paths and beautification works.
Ashghal has so far delivered more than 863km of the roads connecting World Cup stadiums.
These include Al Majd Road, Al Khor Road, Lusail Road, G-Ring Road, and Al Rayyan Road.
It has also almost completed works of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, Duhail Al Gharafa Bridge, Khalifa Avenue, and E-Ring Road.
Major intersections were opened in recent months on G-Ring Road, Salwa Road, Dukhan Road, and Al Shamal Road while enhancing the traffic flow and reducing the travel time to the stadiums.
Ashghal has also completed the works of the New Orbital Highway project in the north and west of Doha and opened Al Wakra Road.
