A security guard was killed in the early hours of Monday inside the Qatar Embassy in Paris, Qatar’s embassy in France has said.
The incident took place at around 0630 (0430 GMT) and does not appear to have any links to terrorism, as per media reports.
“In a heinous and unjustified crime, an embassy guard was killed in Paris on Monday morning. As soon as the crime occurred, authorities arrested the suspect and began investigations,” the Qatari mission in France said in a tweet.
“We await the results of the investigations and call for the privacy of the deceased's family to be respected. The embassy expresses feelings of sadness and sorrow over this crime and extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” the embassy added.
"The circumstances surrounding the security guard's death still need to be precisely determined," French prosecutors said, adding that the use of a weapon had not yet been confirmed.
The man involved in the fight has been arrested and Paris police have opened an investigation for murder.
