Indian expatriate Mundi Thadaku Abdulla Mammoonj was the cynosure of all eyes at the 68th Republic Day celebrations at the embassy premises yesterday.
He dressed up as the late Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, one of the most popular presidents of India. A native of Kasaragod district in the southern state of Kerala, Mammoonj has made it a practice over the years to attend Indian national events, dressed as a prominent leader of the past.
Mammoonj who works with the Ministry of Justice, recalled that during his over 26 years of stay in Qatar, he has appeared as Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabai Patel and many other leaders.
“Before coming to Qatar, I used to do the same act at local schools and other places back home. Dressing up as a national leader always inspires me and provides a treat for the spectators. I am looking forward to imitate some special person on the next occasion,” added Mammoonj.
